When a Product Manager Steps Into a Designer’s Shoes
In my experience, one of the most fun I have had is working with UX/Research/Design folks. The relationships between Product – Design is super critical to building great customer experiences, even more in today’s age with competitive products building state of the art user experiences. To understand ‘What’ and ‘How’ to build product folks have to work collaboratively with design and research folks, as a pose to only looking to them for execution. We will go through some typical (tough and fun) conversations that I have often seen happen between product and design, with examples. I will attempt to give a perspective from the other side and how I would approach these conversations. Give some tips to make these interactions more impactful and build empathy for stakeholders on each side. Product, designers and business folks should walkaway from this session with some real practical practices they can adopt to create more value for customers together.
Takeways:
- Dynamics of product-design relationships and how they are key to building consumer-first products in today’s day and age
- Tactical tools and tips to strengthen relationships with these stakeholders
- Empathy for the other side of the table by understanding stakeholder viewpoints and how to manage them
